On Friday, CNN’s Chris Cuomo challenged The Sun and President Donald Trump to release the tapes documenting the now controversial interview Trump gave to the British tabloid about UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

On Thursday, The Sun released an interview titled, “TRUMP’S BREXIT BLAST Donald Trump told Theresa May how to do Brexit ‘but she wrecked it’ – and says the US trade deal is off.”

The White House tried to deny that he actually said anything bad about May despite the interview.

Then, during a joint press conference with May, Trump further tried to distance himself from the remarks.

“I didn’t criticize the prime minister. I have a lot of respect for the prime minister and, unfortunately, there was a story that was done which was generally fine, but it didn’t put in what I said about the prime minister and I said tremendous things,” Trump told reporters, before suggesting he had tapes to prove The Sun had misreported.

The Washington Post responded to Trump’s claims by noting that The Sun had tapes too and had already posted clips.

Finally,  entering into the fray Friday night, Cuomo challenged both The Sun and Trump to pony up to put an end to the discussion once and for all.

“Produce the tapes,” Cuomo implored. “Make the truth known.”

He concluded: “This is a put up or shut up moment.”
