CNN’s John Avlon: George H.W. Bush Eulogies Were an ‘Implicit Dis’ at Trump
Even though many political observers saw George H.W. Bush‘s funeral as a unifying moment for the country, CNN’s John Avlon insists that the eulogies were all designed to subtly renounce President Trump.
George W. Bush paid tribute to his father yesterday, and the departed former president was also eulogized by Brian Mulroney, Jon Meacham and Alan Simpson. As Avlon analyzed their words, he highlighted the differences between Bush and Trump in order to say the eulogies were an ‘implicit dis” of the current president.
“You make choices when you write speeches,” Avlon said. He went on to argue that people shouldn’t “give out too many medals for Trump” just because he didn’t do anything egregious during the funeral.
